Today’s Inca incorporate modern life while holding onto certain ancient values and ideas. In Peru we are immersed in history in so many ways, including the food, which is some of the world’s most diverse. Did you know that Peru alone has over 2,000 known species of potatoes? It is the ultimate fusion cuisine (its Quechua roots, the Spanish influence coupled with Asian flavors). You will feast on ceviche, tiradito, and papa rellena. The markets, alive with color, the mountains and rushing rivers all contribute to a country rich in wonder. Hike to ruins in the Urubamba Valley and examine pre-Columbian treasures at the renowned Larco Herrera Museum. Explore Lima — the city of kings and the ancient Incan capital of Machu Picchu, where we hike to the Sun Gate and watch day break over the ruins.
