Peru’s Pacaya-Samiria Reserve
Amazon River
This seasonal flooded rain forest is delimited by the Marañón and Ucayali rivers, which meet in the easternmost corner of the reserve to form the Amazon. It winds 1,926 miles before pouring into the Atlantic Ocean.
Diverse Wildlife
Over 500 species of Peru’s birds are found in the reserve, including five species of macaw and the primitive-looking hoatzin, whose nearest ancestors are long extinct. Our Naturalists and Expedition Leader are on a constant lookout for rare pink river dolphins, three-toed sloths and red howler monkeys.
Native People
Meet ribereños, natives of the reserve, whose friendly children often greet us as we come ashore to see their handicrafts and learn about their customs. They practice sustainable hunting, fishing and agriculture — just as their ancestors did.
Life On Board Delfin II
Modern, Elegant Design
Relax on this stately riverboat’s rattan-draped sofas, or stretch out on one of the wooden-slat hammocks with a book while waiting for the glorious Amazon sunset. Hardwood floors stretch across the ship, and open spaces to catch a cool breeze abound.
Sustainable, Gourmet Dining
Every ingredient used by Delfin II’s chef is sourced from the rain forest except olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Even the chocolates placed on your pillow each night are made on board daily. With training at Lima’s five-star restaurants, the chef serves meals that are meant to be savored.
Staterooms
Panoramic river and rain forest views come with each airy cabin. You’ll fall in love with the accents and décor, made up of handicrafts bought directly from the ribereños.
