The Making of the National Geographic Explorer

Explorer 5

2008 Inaugural Season

< PREVIOUS                                            NEXT >

This week, we are pleased to announce National Geographic Explorer’s summer line-up of Inaugural Season itineraries.

After exploring the Baltic’s Historic Waterways on her inaugural voyage (see details about this voyage in Week 4’s update), the ship will begin a series of explorations in the Arctic, Iceland, Greenland, the Canadian Arctic, and Coastal New England.

One journey is heralded as “possibly the world’s most beautiful voyage.” Another, Lindblad’s classic expedition to Arctic Norway, has been described as “the best place to see polar bears where they live most of their lives – on sea ice.” Other programs we’ve created for this new ship will take travelers into areas with rich 1100-year histories, dramatic coastlines, natural and cultural treasures, and opportunities to see wildlife on land and at sea.

Each journey has its own unique character. All are explained in full detail on our website, and we invite you to use the buttons to the right to explore, at your own pace, the places our new ship will venture in 2008.
