John began working in the expedition cruise industry in 1989. After graduating from Humboldt State University with a BS double major in Marine Biology and Zoology, he focused his academic attention on graduate work with marine invertebrates of the Pacific Northwest Coast. GUSTAVO ABARCA GUERRERO
Expedition Leader
Known for his charming disposition and vast experience as a naturalist guide, Gustavo studied biological sciences and modern languages at the University of Costa Rica. He is currently studying Natural Resources Management and Conservation at Costa Rica's state university UNED, and coordinates an environmental study abroad program for a Texas-based university. JIM STRATTON
Naturalist
Jim was born in Oregon and some of his earliest memories are of exploring the Cascade Mountains with his Dad, so it is no surprise that when he finished up at the University of Oregon, he headed off for bigger and wilder mountains in Alaska. His degree is in Recreation & Parks Management with an emphasis on environmental interpretation, a skill that Jim did use while working as an interpretive naturalist with Oregon State Parks and the U.S. Forest Service prior to his move north in 1981. However, it was a practical education in public lands policy learned at Oregon that guided Jim into his Alaska career.Read more |

LARRY HOBBS
Naturalist
Larry has been involved in marine mammal research and teaching natural history for over 25 years. His undergraduate training is in zoology, with graduate work in marine biology. He also holds a Master's degree in Psychology and is a certified counselor in the State of Washington.Read more |

LEE MOLL
Naturalist
Originally from New York State, Lee currently owns a home in Boise, Idaho. She graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1980 with a degree in Environmental Conservation. Although experienced in private consulting as well as Federal and State Government work, Lee has been a professional tour leader and naturalist in the Galapagos Islands, Hawaii, Mexico, Alaska and the Pacific Northwest since 1988. As a generalist, Lee discusses many topics and has particular interest in botany, marine mammals, ornithology, and geology. A world traveler, Lee enjoys photographing the places she visits and sharing the natural world with other curious travelers.Read more |
