His work has appeared in all of the most respected science and nature magazines in the U.S. and abroad, including National Geographic, Smithsonian, Audubon and Natural History. His groundbreaking story on Amazon River Dolphins appeared in the June 2009 issue of National Geographic; one of the images from that story was chosen one of the Ten Best Pictures of the Year. Kevin was also the 1997 Recipient of the BBC Gerald Durrell award for photography of Endangered Species and has been named the 2007 Outstanding Nature Photographer of the Year by the North American Nature Photographers Assoc. JUAN MARTINEZ

National Geographic Emerging Explorer and environmental educator Juan Martinez is a national spokesman for the importance of getting youth—especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds—into the outdoors. He spearheads the Natural Leaders Network of the Children & Nature Network, an organization creating links between environmental organizations, corporations, government, education, and individuals to reconnect children with nature. Juan focuses on celebrating the positive value of nature rather than dire environmental dilemmas. He attends White House forums, advises the U.S. Department of the Interior on plans to create a youth conservation corps, serves as National Youth Volunteer Coordinator for the Sierra Club, and organizes youth delegations to conferences on green jobs and outdoor experiences.Read more |

MIKE GREENFELDER

Mike learned early on that the best way to escape Ohio was to become a marine biologist. During college at Wittenberg University he attended a semester at Duke University's Marine Lab — that time only confirmed his love for all things oceanic and maritime. After graduation, Mike promptly moved to Catalina Island in California where he taught marine biology to school kids. Since 1999, Mike has been working and traveling chasing his three loves: marine critters, photography, and birds.Read more |

LYNN FOWLER
Expedition Leader
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, and one of seven children, Lynn grew up in various university towns where her father was a professor of physics. Lynn obtained her B.A. in biology from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, followed by a master’s in zoology from the University of Florida which encompassed a study of marine turtles in Costa Rica. She arrived in the Galápagos in 1978 and became one of the first female naturalist guides working for the Galápagos National Park.Read more |
