Onboard Amenities

National Geographic Explorer’s public spaces provide opportunities for sociability and private reflection.

  • The Lounge is part living room, part theater. Designed with a center podium and oversized plasma screens, the Lounge is where daily Recap, a hallmark of our unique expedition style, takes place.
  • The sleekly elegant and expansively windowed Dining Room is completely casual, and because there's no assigned seating, it allows for easy mingling.
  • The Bistro Bar’s intimate space and piano make it a hub of sociability.
  • Both the glass-walled Library, one of the best-stocked of any ship afloat, and the Observation Lounge are the equivalent of “being there” — with panoramic views and quality binoculars conveniently at hand.
  • Our open Bridge policy make access to the fascinating business of navigating the ship part of your expedition experience.
  • Beneath the Bridge, the Chart Room, with its maps and 24-hour beverage station, is perfect for breaks in the sight-seeing action.
  • The Mud Room provides lockers for stowing your outdoor gear.
  • The Internet Cafe provides an easy way to stay connected to family, friends, and world events.
  • A full-time doctor is also on board at all times.
  • The Global Gallery offers high quality handicrafts from global artisans, sundries, and gear.
A classic Swedish sauna makes the Wellness Spa a perfect place to end an active day.

Fine Food and Service

Our meals are always an entertaining experience, offering the opportunity to enjoy a changing cast of dining companions — from fellow guests to expedition team members and Global Luminaries. Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style, with an array of options to satisfy any yearnings; dinner is served by our gracious staff. From laundry to turndown service, Explorer's team is dedicated to providing you the best of everything.

Wellness

Massages and other treatments are the ideal counterpoint to walking, hiking, kayaking or a good workout — and a perfect way to maximize the health benefits of being at sea. The Wellness Center stocks fluffy white towels and robes, features a Sauna and showers, and offers convenient hours.

Fitness

Imagine substituting sweeping Antarctic views for the typical gym's TV screens! The Fitness Center offers a million-dollar view and features treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes, plus a full complement of free weights, stretch bands and balance balls. Explorer's Wellness Specialist also leads regular stretch or yoga classes.
