Where Whales Go To Winter

A study of whale calls around Hawaii has indicated that thousands of humpbacks may be spending their winters in the warmer waters of the northwestern reaches of these islands. Researchers say the waters may be home to up to 8,000 previously unknown whales, and some suggest that these same whales could be spending summers in Alaska around the Aleutians and the Bering Sea. Naturalists on our Alaska cruise employ the same listening methods to give our guests a chance to eavesdrop on the humpbacks’ conversations. Interested? Learn more here.
