BEAU'S VIDEO OF A GREAT DAY IN ALASKA

Bookmark and Share

A couple of days ago (September 29) we posted a blog written by Beau Sylte about a phenomenal day in Alaska aboard National Geographic Sea Bird. It incorporated many highlights of an Alaska voyage in one day. But, that was the objective. Beau was feeling a bit competitive with Sea Lion’s sister ship, National Geographic Sea Bird.

We didn’t have Beau’s uploadable video clip until this morning. We (and not just me, all of us who have seen it) feel that this clip  deserves two blog posts. So take a look. It’s a great video. And, read the blog post as well. You'll enjoy it.

BROWN BEAR'S LUNCH? EXTREMELY FRESH SALMON.

Bookmark and Share

With a videographer on board our expedition cruises, we receive video reports from the ships on a regular basis. This particular video, of guests traveling aboard National Geographic Sea Bird in Alaska, is very much involved with a couple of brown bears and their lunch -- salmon. The experience is amazing on video, and was clearly wonderful to watch from the other side of the stream.

“Determined to regain body weight after a long winter sleep and spring meals of new vegetation, this brown bear ignored our presence and quickly caught rich, fatty salmon.”

- Naturalist, Bryan Gates

UNFORGETTABLE BEAR ENCOUNTERS

Bookmark and Share
Whether it’s on land, in a stream, or while coasting amid giant slabs of pack ice, a bear sighting is always an inspiring moment on our expeditions. Two of our ships, National Geographic Explorer and National Geographic Sea Bird, recently came upon two different species of bears in two different regions – Alaska and the Arctic – on the same day. Our Video Chroniclers were right there to capture the encounters.
