Assistant Expedition Leaders
Assistant Expedition Leaders are the behind-the-scenes heroes making expedition magic happen every day.
In one day they may clear customs for every guest aboard, pull permits to land Zodiacs in protected forests, and then make sure photography permits are on hand in case the National Park Service asks for them when they see a group of hikers carrying video cameras.
Their mastery of detail is part of the reason we’re able to ensure the day goes off without a hitch. And when a surprise inevitably pops up—a volcano eruption nearby that we want to observe or heavy seas that mean we have to change landings—they seamlessly pivot to make sure the new plan is perfect.
Most assistant expedition leaders have risen through the ranks after years of expedition travel. With a hand in the navigation, hotel and expedition departments, they ensure a unified, guest-centered expedition.
With varied backgrounds in logistics and global fieldwork, they all share a passion for travel and exploring the planet’s wild and wonderful places. And their common goal is to offer logistical support in exploring the farthest reaches of the Earth so that our guests are inspired to protect and preserve these wild places.
