In 2004, two pioneers in exploration formed a unique alliance. Lindblad Expeditions teamed up with the National Geographic Society bringing the world of magazines and videos to adults and youth alike. And what an amazing partnership it has become!
Whether on a family expedition or any other cruise, guests have access to some of the best and brightest photographers, authors, and scientists on the planet. Not only can they watch these professionals at work but guests can also participate in workshops with them and receive one-on-one mentoring or advice. Family expeditions target the Galapagos Islands, southeast travel in Alaska, Arctic Norway, and the Amazon. On all of these cruises special hands-on workshops in photography are available for both youth and adults led by either published National Geographic photographers or National Geographic certified photography instructors (CPIs). You learn that photography is not just about taking pictures. Researching the location and subject are often more important than the ability to handle the equipment. By traveling with Lindblad and National Geographic some of that research has already been done for you. The next step is learning to see and discovering the qualities of light. One phase leads to another. How fortunate is the person who has started on this voyage early in life, and who has traveled with their elders on a family expedition to such amazing places as Alaska, the Amazon, Arctic Norway, or Galapagos!
Watch scientists deploy a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and be on hand as the first to discover an unknown species of marine invertebrate. Or participate in data collection looking at the temperature, salinity, and oxygenation of the seas. There is no telling how many youth have suddenly uncovered an interest in science and conservation after becoming involved with professionals.
Together, Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic are opening the world to you and your families.
