Adventures to share amid the living sea
NEW for 2020 - the National Geographic Global Explorers program launches in Baja! Developed in conjunction with National Geographic Education, our exclusive program helps kids & teens learn to develop the attitudes, skills, and knowledge of an explorer. Learn more about what kids will do and see each day.
Exploring Baja California & The Sea of Cortez aboard our 50-cabin expedition ship is an unforgettable adventure of pure discovery that’s perfect as a family unit or multi-generational clan. You’ll always remember the shared experiences of snorkeling among playful sea lions or sharing an otherwise empty beach as the sun sets over the pristine desert island you’ve spent the day exploring. And there’s something about the pure wildness of the region that brings out the vibrant, youthful side of travelers no matter their age.
Daily activities and adventures for families to share
Our Baja California tour expeditions offer daily activities that will satisfy a diverse range of interests and fitness levels of various family members, from expedition landing craft cruises to search for wildlife along the shore to kayaking outings to explore water-level caves. If you prefer not to take the long hike through a forest of cacti, take a short interpretive natural history walk, or shoot with your photo instructor on the beach. You can opt to do activities as a group, or let everyone pursue their own interests. And getting together for breakfast and dinner to plan your day or recount experiences and swap stories is one of the chief joys of a shared family expedition.
The New 50-cabin National Geographic Venture is ideal for family travel
The ship is not merely the space you inhabit, it’s an essential element in your shared adventure. Even if you go separate ways during the day, pursuing diverse activities, you can count on running into each other or gravitating together easily and naturally. Kids can safely exercise their freedom—kids’ tables often form organically in the dining room—without ever getting too far away, and there’s always a friendly naturalist or crewmember nearby.
Part of the expedition community
Each day the entire expedition community gathers in the lounge for a tradition we call Recap, in which various members of the expedition team recount the day’s activities or make presentations. Inclusive, convivial, with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres included, Recap is yet another opportunity for sharing and memory-making. Guests have told us over the years, that being part of the expedition community helped them see themselves as a family more clearly, and re-affirmed their bonds in vitalizing new ways.
Card-worthy family photos
Since every Baja California expedition sails with a Lindblad-National Geographic certified photo instructor aboard, you’re likely to go home with some wonderful family photos to share with friends.
The #1 Family Friendly Small-ship Cruise Line
Travel + Leisure has named us the #1 Family Friendly Small-ship Cruise Line for four consecutive years because we offer families more than simply the chance to travel together. Parents and children get the rare opportunity to genuinely connect in a totally natural way that is outside the framework of everyday life—sharing shipboard life, sharing activities, sharing the discoveries, and creating a genuinely collective family memory.
Kids under 18 get $500 off
We believe that sharing an expedition with your kids or grandkids can be a life-altering experience. Since we are committed to encouraging families to travel, we invite you to take $500 off the cost of your expedition for each child under the age of 18 traveling.
