Wild California Escape: Channel Islands National Park provides insight into the history of preserving lovely Catalina Island with a session on conservation efforts to keep the island pristine. Not only will you spend the day discovering its colorful history and natural wonders, you’ll also personally discover it on a backcountry hike. Once owned by chewing gum tycoon William Wrigley, Jr., his heirs were responsible for protecting nearly 90 percent of the island.
On Wild California Escape: San Francisco to Monterey Bay, you will be involved in the preservation of Monterey’s spectacular ecosystems by pitching in with a local conservation project for a day. As you work alongside local conservation leaders and volunteers, you’ll also learn about Monterey’s natural and cultural heritage, and gain a deeper understanding of what’s at stake when people and wild places coexist while you help to protect this environment for future generations.
