Amenities, great food, camaraderie, comfort & wellness
It is a privilege to visit the far-flung and pristine islands of French Polynesia and the South Pacific, a richly diverse and culturally fascinating geography. And to the privilege of exploring here, National Geographic Orion adds the luxury of comfort—a quality of shipboard life and a philosophy of wellness designed to relax and revitalize body, mind, and spirit.
Informal ambiance, relaxed attitude
No need to dress up ever, life aboard is casual all the way. And our no-assigned seating policy, in both the dining room and the buffet on deck, creates a welcoming atmosphere, making it easy for everyone from solo travelers to groups to mingle and share meals with different, new friends.
Dining is an integral part of your expedition experience, with influences and flavors that reflect the regions we explore. Designed by Serge Dansereau, renowned head chef and owner of Sydney, Australia’s The Bathers’ Pavilion, Orion’s menus are superbly executed by the onboard staff using the freshest seasonal produce and seafood, sourced locally or sustainably caught whenever possible.
Sociable spaces, quiet corners
Curl up with a book in the library perched at the top of the ship or gather with the whole expedition community in the spacious lounge where cocktail hours, informative presentations, and our nightly ritual of Recap all take place. On National Geographic Orion there are plenty of gracious, accommodating spaces, where you’re free to indulge your interests, socialize with newfound friends, and take advantage of the ship’s amenities. We invite you to roam the ship, discovering all its nooks and crannies, and visit the bridge anytime to watch the business of navigation unfold.
Rise, shine, and connect with wildness
Greet the morning with a pre-breakfast stretching session led by your wellness specialist on the stern deck, or sleep in and take advantage of Orion’s gym.
Relax and rejuvenate
While cruising the South Pacific make an appointment in the Wellness Center to indulge in massage therapy or an array of hand, foot, face and body treatments. Or drop in anytime to use the sauna. A soak in the whirlpool hot tub on the sundeck is another revitalizing way to end an active day of exploration. And your cabin, whether windowed or balconied, will be a most inviting place to rest, with your bed cosseted in our signature cotton linens and the bathroom stocked with organic botanical products.
