National Geographic Orion continued westward, heading to the Pitcairn Islands. Traveling between Rapa Nui and Pitcairn, we have had some calm sea time to process our powerful experience on Rapa Nui. Throughout the day, we listened to informative talks on the Pitcairn Islands and oceanography, and we had a presentation by our National Geographic expert. Mikey G. was glued to the bow, scouring the vast ocean for the petrels unique to this region, including the Herald, Kermadec, black-winged, white-necked, and sooty shearwater. Before recap and with pisco sours in hand, we gathered on the outdoor deck to celebrate newfound friendships and our journey to the easternmost island chain in Polynesia.
