Another perfect weather day in southeast Alaska! We woke up on our anchor at the mouth of Inian Cove with the Fairweather Mountains serving as a magnificent backdrop. We spent the morning cruising around the small archipelago in Zodiacs. We were treated to some bountiful marine life, including several large groups of sea otters and Steller sea lions hauled out on the rocks.

After a fantastic brunch, we motored over to George Island near the mouth of Port Althorp. Our hikes around the island featured marvelous vistas of the Fairweathers and fleeting views of Brady Glacier. We had some time to lay on one of the island’s sandy beaches and soak up the sun. Then it was time to come back aboard National Geographic Venture so we could make our way towards Glacier Bay.
