On our last day exploring the Sea of Cortez, we sailed to San Evaristo, a quiet and picturesque fishing community along the shore of the Los Dolores range. This village is the main supplier of fresh fish and seafood to local markets in La Paz, located a couple of hours south of the peninsula.

We had a great snorkeling session at the cove. Besides enjoying the company of schools of needlefish and barracudas, we were able to see more clearly how most of the islands and islets close to the peninsula’s shore were once land bridges, and how they were submerged at the end of the last Ice Age.

After enjoying an early snorkeling session, we left anchor and sailed north towards Puerto Gato, a gorgeous cove surrounded by amazing red sandstone hills.

We had a perfect farewell view full of good energy and some time to look for critters and plants.
