Breck spent twenty years working in law, international business and banking after graduating with J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Stanford University. At that point, he decided to change careers and went back to school. He received a PhD in History from Vanderbilt in 2007. His area of specialization is diplomatic history, and he has taught courses on American foreign policy, revolutionary movements in the modern era, World War II and global diplomacy. Breck was a Visiting Professor for several years at Sewanee – The University of the South, and he traveled the world for two semesters teaching on the University of Virginia’s Semester at Sea program.
More recently, he worked for the Office of the Secretary of Defense Historical Office writing a book on the evolution of early Pentagon cyber policy. He and his wife live in Nashville, Tennessee.
