Casey Charles is a 7th and 8th grade Science and Physical Education teacher at Westmount Public School in Thunder Bay, Ontario, a Lakehead District School Board Public School. He has taught in his home town in Thunder Bay since 1995, always teaching grade seven and eight students. He loves to see the world, and taught for three years at AFNORTH, a department of National Defense School in Brunssum, Netherlands.
He is passionate about educating his students through experiential learning activities. For the past two years, Casey has developed and taught in a Sports and Recreation Learning Academy, where all subjects are taught through community-connected experiential learning. He loves to get his class outdoors and exposed to the world around them, and loves to see his students from urban areas, who rarely get the opportunity, shine in an outdoor environment. He strongly believes in the powerful impact environmental education can have on young teenage students, and the impact that it will have on our global future.
Casey is an avid outdoorsman, who loves to hike, canoe, and explore, and always tries to instill this love and connection to nature in his students. His amazing, supportive family consists of his wife, Monique, and his two fantastic daughters, Sydney and Danielle.
