Grosvenor Teacher Fellow
Dawnetta Hayes is a sixth-grade language arts teacher at the School of Creative and Performing Art in Cincinnati, Ohio. In addition, she is a doctoral student at the University of Cincinnati and a 2015 Grosvenor Teacher Fellow. Her teaching experiences in both Montessori and a world-class K-12 arts institution allows her to develop unique outdoor, cultural, and artistic opportunities for her students in a way that challenges them to move outside of their comfort zones to explore and embrace the diversity of the world and people around them. Over her 18 years in the field of education, she has organized marine biology studies in the Florida Keys, camping trips, and cultural dance workshops for her students. She is also known for developing unique interdisciplinary lessons with a focus on the cultural arts and global passport experiences for her students. She teaches her students to become global stewards of the earth and empowers them to use their voice to make a difference in this world.
