Julie Theim is a K-6th grade art teacher at Rolling Hills Elementary in Mukwonago, Wisconsin. She graduated from Alverno College (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) with a double major in Art Education & Art Therapy. Julie is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of art education to explore cross-curricular learning through hands-on innovative experiences. She uses a variety of technology in the classroom such as iPads, Osmos, Google Expeditions, SmartBoard activities and more. Her hope is to inspire her students to learn through different lenses, so they can build positive connections between the world and their lives.
Julie grew up in Milwaukee and often visited the wilderness of northern Wisconsin and upper Michigan with her family, going on camping adventures every summer. This is where her curiosity of the outdoors began. Coming from the city but exploring all that the wild world has to offer is what fuels her soul. She is passionate about travel and learning as much as possible about the world and wildlife around her, and in turn, sharing that through photography, art, and conversations with her students, staff, friends, and family.
She enjoys adventuring with her husband, Nick, and chocolate lab, William Wallace whenever they have the chance, to wherever life takes them. She aspires to grow in her photography skills as well as continue to add experiences to her personal and professional endeavors. Julie’s beyond thrilled to be part of this Arctic expedition and can’t wait to soak up every moment!
