Kristi Barnes is a native of South Carolina. She obtained both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Furman University (Go Paladins!). While at Furman, she was a South Carolina Teaching Fellow, directed and played in numerous musical ensembles, and was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, a music fraternity for women.
Kristi currently teaches 6th Grade World History. She is also the founder of and mentor for The Bilingual Squad, a multicultural support group for bilingual students at her school. Kristi enjoys teaching her students about world geography, world religions, governments, and about the human experience throughout history. She is dedicated to inspiring her students to meet new people, travel the world, and to be lifelong learners.
In addition to teaching, Kristi also works as an ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapist. As a therapist, she provides one-on-one therapy for children who have severe forms of autism. Along with speech and language therapy, she also uses behavioral management techniques to help her clients develop social and life skills.
In her free time, Kristi enjoys traveling to see family and friends, crocheting, cooking, participating in a local book club, and Latin dancing—especially salsa and bachata.
