Captain
Born in Ambato, Ecuador, Captain Garcés studied in Guayaquil at the Marine Merchant School. He navigated in international waters his first 11 years, returning to Ecuador in 2000 as Chief Mate of the M/V Polaris, the first year-round vessel in Galápagos for Lindblad Expeditions. In 2004 he became the first captain on the National Geographic Islander. Starting in April 2016, Captain Garcés participated actively in the refit of the National Geographic Endeavour II, the ship where he is currently the captain.
