Scott Solomon is representing Rice Alumni Traveling Owls. He teaches ecology, evolution, and scientific communication as an Associate Teaching Professor in the department of Biosciences and the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies at Rice. He is the author of Future Humans: Inside the Science of Our Continuing Evolution published by Yale University Press and a digital course called What Darwin Didn't Know: The Modern Science of Evolution available through The Great Courses.
Solomon holds a Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior from the University of Texas at Austin where his research examined the evolutionary basis of biological diversity in the Amazon Basin. His research explores the ecology and evolution of ants, and his writing and photography have appeared in publications such as Aeon, Nautilus, Slate, and Wired.
