Serge Rajaobelina is one of Madagascar’s leading conservationists and naturalists. Born in the U.S., Serge has lived in both the U.S. and Madagascar, working with leading conservation organizations. Now permanently based in Madagascar, he co-founded and directs a pioneering Malagasy organization called Fanamby, which has projects in a number of locales within Madagascar, involving local communities in tourism and conservation.
The goal is for the benefits of conservation to accrue to local residents, thereby promoting ongoing efforts to preserve vital habitats. He is a contributor to the field guide Lemurs of Madagascar and the author of numerous papers about conservation in Madagascar. He is also dynamic, engaging, and committed to preserving Madagascar’s wildlife and improving the lot of the Malagasy people.
