Expanding economic opportunities for rural children & adults through education
When you travel with Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic, you gain a unique perspective on the world around you. A core value of Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic is to positively impact the environments and communities in which we explore, so we believe in not only providing an extraordinary travel experience for our guests, but also in the power of giving back. In conjunction with our guests and other partners, we are proud to support a range of projects worldwide. A sample of the projects we have recently funded in Cambodia is outlined below.
Along with a group of our passionate guests, expedition leader Tom O’Brien launched a grassroots project to build a library in one of the Cambodian villages we regularly visit. The library has since been constructed, offering hundreds of local people classes and open resources for learning English language skills.
A sister project to the library in Kampong Tralach, we are funding the construction of a three-room building in Kampong Cham province that will be used as a library, computer lab, and offices by Organization for Basic Training (OBT), a Cambodian NGO that seeks to improve the lives of rural residents through instruction in English, math, and traditional Khmer music and culture.
