A bow-mounted camera offers a window on the undersea
National Geographic Sea Bird and National Geographic Sea Lion are outfitted with bow-mounted video cameras that sit just below the water’s surface. This allows us a glimpse into the undersea directly below our ship as we sail or sit at anchor. Our naturalists can use the camera as visual reconnaissance, and the live video feed offers those in the ship’s lounge a unique vantage point when dolphins come to ride our bow wake or schools of fish swim past. The large-screen monitor that sits in the center of the lounge most often runs the live feed from the bow camera.
