Floreana Island
Floreana Island is a place where we can see many types of birds. Residents, migrants, endemic, native and lagoon birds.
Within the past two decades, research has burgeoned on migrant birds. The need to study these birds thoroughly on both their breeding grounds and their migratory routs became a rallying cry for field ornithologists.
Although these birds migrate north or south, west or east to nest, they return precisely to the same location used the previous year; a behavior called Site Fidelity.
Birds are magnets that help draw visitors to the Galapagos. Some people come merely to augment an already long life list of species, like with the finches, penguins, boobies, flamingos or black-necked stilt. And hoping to have an encounter with some migratory birds like the sandpipers, plovers, terns etc. Other people travel following the footsteps of Darwin or just to photograph or investigate birds with the hope of adding knowledge about the mystery of ecology and evolution of these incredible creatures.
