Today National Geographic Endeavour II visited Puerto Ayora. As the first activity of the day, we headed to the Charles Darwin Research Station to learn about the giant tortoises conservation project. In addition, we visited Lonesome George, who died in 2012 and has been preserved with taxidermy. Then we headed to the highlands to visit a coffee farm called Trapiche, where the owners have been producing sugar for the last 40 years.

After a delicious lunch at the Aquelarre restaurant, we visited Rancho El Chato. Here we saw giant tortoises everywhere! It has been a perfect, full day in Santa Cruz Island.
