Fabian Romero

Born in mainland Ecuador, Fabian was interested in nature—especially freshwater fish—from his earliest years. This passion became what would be his first business: home and hotel ornamental aquarium design.

After studying biology, Fabian became licensed to work as a naturalist guide in Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve in the Ecuadorian Amazon. This rainforest national park is often visited by well-known ornithologists, and Fabian had the opportunity to work with some of them, who helped him become a skillful birdwatcher. As a rainforest guide, Fabian began working for indigenous communities and The Nature Conservancy, helping protected areas fight against oil exploitation.

In 1996, Fabian obtained his license to work as a naturalist guide for the Galápagos National Park, and there he discovered his great passion for nature photography. His work has been published in national and international magazines and been considered for a science photography award. Fabian’s first photography book on Galápagos fauna was published in 2012.

Fabian is still an active guide in the jungle and in the Galápagos Islands. His goal is to share his experiences with every visitor he has the chance to meet.
