Kathy Eldridge
Kathy Eldridge is a National Board Certified science teacher at Muscle Shoals High School in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. She teaches Biology and Zoology and coaches the Science Olympiad Team. Kathy engages students by infusing her classroom lessons with humor and real life experiences. Her love of travel began while growing up in a military family. Kathy’s father and brother both had careers in the United States Coast Guard which led to her visiting the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Hawaii and Key West. Her husband and children share her love of travel and enjoy the outdoors hiking, trail riding and boating.
Kathy graduated from the University of North Alabama with a BSED in Biology and History. She earned her MAED in Biology in 1993 and has taught middle and high school sciences for 27 years. She has been recognized as both a Secondary Teacher of the Year in Muscle Shoals City Schools and a Middle School Teacher of the Year in Shelby County Schools. As a part of the Grosvenor Teacher Fellow Program, she traveled with Lindblad Expeditions to Antarctica in December, 2015. Upon her return she inspired students in preK-12th grade with her photographs, videos and stories. Kathy shared her polar experience with teachers at local, regional and state conferences. Most recently, she earned her National Geographic Educator Certification which guides teachers in motivating students to be explorers and agents of change in their local community and the world.
