Stuart Pimm

Conservation biologist Stuart Pimm is the Doris Duke Professor of Conservation Ecology at Duke University and winner of the 2006 Heineken Prize for Environmental Sciences.  Stuart has worked on ecosystem restoration in the Everglades, the coastal forests of Brazil, and the savannas of southern Africa. He has followed guanacos in Patagonia and fossas in Madagascar.

He has written three books: The World According to Pimm: A Scientist Audits the Earth, Food Webs, and The Balance of Nature? Ecological Issues in the Conservation of Species and Communities.  Stuart is a former long-time member of National Geographic’s grant-giving Committee for Research and Exploration and a member of the Geographic's Big Cats Initiative grant committee.
