NEW YORK, NY, May 2011 ‐‐‐ Lindblad Expeditions’ guests have spoken. And they have told them the places they long to explore...on their expedition comment cards, on Facebook and Twitter, and in casual conversations in the lounges of their ships.

Lindblad Expeditions has crafted four new itineraries for 2012, each planned to take advantage of the best times to travel for wildlife sightings and local conditions. All afford cultural encounters that offer meaningful insight into ancient cultures, and Lindblad’s signature commitment to exploration under the sea and on land.

They include lands new to Lindblad Expeditions and others to places where they pioneered travel. For Vietnam & Cambodia, they waited to return when a new ship was built that met their exacting standards – and the elegant Jahan is it. In Turkey & Greece, they are offering a new itinerary and a dramatic new expedition environment – aboard the legendary four‐masted Sea Cloud.

Vietnam & Cambodia — Along the Mekong River, including Angkor and Saigon — These beautiful countries with centuries of history and culture, which experienced so much war and dislocation, are now developing swiftly — their welcoming people working hard to secure a better future. The 14‐day itinerary takes in the sublime temples of Angkor; the floating villages, vibrant markets and small communities along the Mekong, and the vibrant cities of Phnom Penh and Saigon. Sail aboard the new 48‐guest Jahan, with accommodations of a standard not available here before. Rates begin at $7,980 per person based on double occupancy.

Exploring Turkey & Greece: A Sailing Odyssey  This is a journey to the home of Western civilization, a chance to enjoy the beauty, richness and culture of the Turkish coast and the Greek isles — and to sail aboard the 58‐guest, four‐masted, 30‐sail tall ship, Sea Cloud, arguably, one of the most remarkable clipper ships in the world. The 10‐day itinerary is a celebration of ancient history with extraordinary shore visits and a window on island life. Discover Istanbul, the city that is a bridge between East and West; Ephesus, one of the great centers of the Greek world rich with Classical and Christian meaning; intriguing Didyma, home to one of Apollo’s oracles and Greece’s Cycladic islands of Santorini, Folégandros and sacred Delos, home to some of the greatest works created by the ancients. Rates begin at $7,990 per person based on double occupancy.

West African Odyssey: Exploring from South Africa to Morocco — Spanning 16 distinctive countries, the 37‐day itinerary explores the entire west coast of Africa from Cape Town, South Africa to Morocco offering a dazzling array of cultures, scenery and wildlife. Guests will experience daily life in Africa through its lively markets and music, and encounter a great sweep of geography from the maritime climate of South Africa, to the deserts of Namibia, the tropics and savannas of the coast, the desert of the Western Sahara and the vibrant city of Marrakech. The epic adventure aboard the 148‐guest National Geographic Explorer will define the term “voyage of discovery.” Rates begin at $28,480 per person, based on double occupancy.

Exploring the Cultures and Wildlife of Papua New Guinea: Papua New Guinea is a patchwork of rain forest, great rivers and over 700 Papuan and Melanesian tribes that have preserved many of their traditional ways. The 16‐day itinerary explores the country’s natural splendor and intriguing cultures aboard the Oceanic Discoverer, a nimble 68‐guest ship perfectly suited to exploring the coral reefs and great rivers. Guests will observe the amazingly active volcano Tavurvur; visit the villagers’ traditional homes and yam huts in the Trobriands, whose cultures were famously studied by the anthropologist Bronislaw Malinowski; view remarkable art along the Sepik River, and the remains of a ship stored in a cave by the Japanese during World War II at Rabaul.
