Los Islotes & Isla Espiritu Santo
A smooth sea! Perfect for visiting those two small islands where a good number of California sea lions roost, and many sea birds nest, including brown and blue-footed boobies, and others. A good number of magnificent frigate birds wheel around the island all day, bothering all sea birds; pelicans hit the water, and lazy turkey vultures use the updrafts of the islands.
Here we deployed Zodiac cruises around the island, absorbing all the sounds and noises the sea lions made, and observing the antics of the young ones, porpoising along the surface, and flipping in the air. Cormorants acted so serious!
Later on we moved toward the southeastern part of Isla Espiritu Santo, to Bonanza Bay, where we did marvelous hiking and had a most magnificent barbecue, with stories about the Aztec Gods amplifying to the night's campfire experience.
