Española Island
Today we started with a satisfying breakfast. Our fist outing took place in the most western side of Española Island, a place called Punta Suarez. Since we set foot on the island, we had a welcome committee which consisted in several endemic species, such as: sea lions, marine iguanas and the largest lava lizards.
Along the hike, we were fascinated by the wealth of this place in wild life. We saw Hood mocking birds, Nazca Boobies, named after Nazca Plate, where Galápagos is located, marine iguanas nesting, and some even fighting to get the best spot to lay their eggs. This time of year the island is covered by vegetation, due to the rainy season.
At noon we recovered our energy with the Ecuadorian lunch, with many dishes from all three regions of this little country with the most incredible biodiversity - Ecuador.
In the afternoon, we had the opportunity to do water activities. Our guests took different options. There were the beach goers, glass bottom boat people, deep water snorkelers and kayakers. We were very lucky to see lots of tropical fish, and three species of rays: spotted eagle rays, marble rays, sting rays. Just a couple of minutes before we started with our kayak operation, two golden rays passed under the Zodiac; it was fantastic! The beach looked beautiful with many sea lions resting, and the beach master barking from the water, keeping intruders out of its territory. We were so happy to be in this wonderful paradise in the endless Pacific Ocean; we are blessed by God to be so fortunate.
