Floreana Island

By all means the Galapagos Islands are the true living laboratory of evolution. Every day you are able to admire evolutionary processes. Today we spent the whole day on Floreana, which is one of the four inhabited islands of this archipelago. We got to visit three different locations, and some guests had the opportunity to go snorkeling around Champion Islet. Without doubt it was a great outing, sea lions were everywhere. They played with all of us, and the tiniest and most curious of them ventured to pull Paula's fin. He eventually stole it and swam away, so our fellow naturalist had to go after the little thief to recover her fin. It was the funniest thing, and we got it all on video to share it with our guests.

In the afternoon we landed at Punta Cormorant which is a great place for botanists. We got to see some endemic genera of plants, which means they have been isolated long enough to constitute unique organisms to these islands. It was a full day and we saw everything that we expected, and more.
