Our day began with a pleasant early morning walk on the beach in Darwin’s Bay. As soon as you set foot on the sand, you are welcomed by all kinds of birds, including red-footed and Nazca boobies, frigatebirds, lava herons, and finches. All these birds have their own calls. Some are busy nesting, while others are building nests or trying to attract the attention of females in the area.
In the afternoon, we went to Prince Philip’s Steps to look for short-eared owls hunting Galapagos storm petrels on top of the lava platforms on the south end of the island. We succeeded!
