Tuesday was another terrific day in the Galapagos. We began exploring the island of Isabela by hiking in Urbina Bay. This whole area was underwater before 1964, and therefore, while we hiked we got to see fossilized sea worms and huge heads of brain coral more than 600 years old. Land iguanas with bright yellow heads and a couple of young giant tortoises showed up along the trail, while Darwin´s finches, yellow warblers, and Galapagos mockingbirds sang and flew above us. We ended the hike with a refreshing swim in the beach.

Back on board, our naturalist Emma gave a very interesting talk on island biogeography to help us understand more about the arrival and establishment of species on oceanic islands. Next in schedule, our hotel manager invited us to enjoy an Ecuadorian buffet, with food from all regions of this rich country. Delicious ceviche, roasted pork, fish in coconut sauce, many types of potatoes, and exotic desserts where among the dishes we had the opportunity to try.

The afternoon was also packed with activities and options. Our young explorers met our photo instructor and got to learn more about the art of filmmaking, and then snorkeling and kayaking were offered. We were joined by the very rare flightless cormorants and many green sea turtles, and some snorkelers even saw octopuses mating!

Nevertheless, the afternoon was not over! Some guests decided to go to an invigorating hike up Darwin´s Lake to follow Darwin´s footsteps in the islands and see this beautiful crater. Others were more inclined towards a Zodiac ride to find more wildlife, and others went for more kayaking and paddleboarding.

We all met again back in the lounge, full of enthusiasm to share what we had seen, learn some more from our naturalists and learn about tomorrow´s program. Adults went for dinner while our young explorers enjoyed a pizza movie night. Last but not least, stargazing took place in the upper deck, and after that wonderful astronomical show, we headed to bed, dreaming about the adventures that await us.
