Early morning found National Geographic Orion anchoring in Kamenistaya Bay, a natural amphitheater with a glorious waterfall cascading into the sea. A small ranger cabin near the waterfall added to the photographic opportunities, and we all took advantage of such a picture-perfect setting! As the tide dropped, small pools were exposed where cool ocean water met with boiling hot thermal waters to create a natural Jacuzzi. A few stalwart guests and staff braved the alternately hot and cold water to soak in the pools at the foot of the amazing cliffs!

Our afternoon was spent on tour with spotted seals, Arctic loons, and imagined brown bears, who magically turned into rocks or tree stumps once approached for a closer investigation!
