This morning, National Geographic Orion cruised into Morzhovaya Bay. From the decks, we could pick out a few Steller’s sea eagles and a nest. A bear was running around on a beach and up into the tall grass. We went ashore for walks along the river, where pink salmon were starting to enter. We enjoyed many colorful wildflowers and some birds.

The ship repositioned northward to the Zhupanova River for afternoon Zodiac tours. There were many harbor seals in the surrounding water. The highlight was very good views of Steller’s sea eagles and a nest with chicks.
