Owl Pass/Punchbowl Cove, 8/5/2021, National Geographic Sea Lion

After an embarkation day that delivered nearly 6” of rain (fully 2.5% of Ketchikan’s average annual rainfall), we awoke at the entrance to Rudyard Bay in the Misty Fjords National Monument.  Guests were treated to a day that was relatively dry compared to yesterday’s deluge, but still moist enough that nobody forgot that they were in Southeast Alaska. A morning round of Zodiac tours was followed by a hearty lunch, and an afternoon round of sea kayaking in the Punch Bowl.

Meanwhile, our undersea specialist had been collecting video with one of her wondrous toys fathoms beneath the surface, and treated us all to stunning video of that secret world that few ever get to visit.
