Having spent two nights at dock in the town of Puerto Natales, we left during breakfast to arrive at “the other navigable narrow,” the White Narrows. We arrived before slack tide to assess the currents and winds so we could safely navigate the ship and make our way towards Puerto Fontaine. As we waited for the tide and winds to allow us to pass, time passed quickly with the help of close encounters with Commerson’s dolphins and Andean condors. Naturalist Pelin explained what we observed during yesterday’s hike and bus tour in her presentation, “Understanding the Geology of Torres del Paine.”

In the afternoon, we enjoyed another exciting Zodiac cruise where we experienced the authentic and fairly unpredictable Patagonian weather conditions. Despite gusts of wind up to 65 knots, we explored the water’s surface, and the undersea specialist team managed to get footage below the water. We had a great day navigating and experienced nature from the ship and “in the field.”

Later, we enjoyed cocktail hour with our famous recap of the day. This was followed by a delicious dinner while sailing towards our next expedition destination.
