Dr. Silja Bára Ómarsdóttir lectures at the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Iceland, where her research focuses on Iceland’s foreign and security policy, feminist foreign policy and reproductive rights. She holds degrees in International Relations and Political Science from Lewis & Clark College, University of Southern California, and University College Cork.
Silja has served on the boards of numerous Icelandic NGOs focusing on women’s rights and human rights and was among the 25 people selected to draft a new constitution for Iceland in 2011. In that process, she chaired the committee on human rights and environment. Silja is an engaging speaker, who will discuss various aspects of Iceland’s politics and society.
