NEW YORK, NY, March 2012 ‐‐ Fans are invited to get on board the National Geographic Endeavour and set sail with the Phillie Phanatic on a unique ten‐day expedition to the Galapagos Islands.
Scheduled to depart Friday, November 23, 2012, and hosted by Lindblad Expeditions‐National Geographic, the Phillie Phanatic’s Galapagos Islands Journey will take fans to the Phanatic’s homeland of the Galapagos Islands, located in the Eastern Pacific Ocean off the coast of Ecuador. Consistently rate done of the world’s best island destinations, Galapagos is like being in the ultimate zoo without the fences, and offers unprecedented proximity to wildlife and a life changing adventure.
Set aboard the 96‐passenger small ship National Geographic Endeavour, the voyage will be led by a team of naturalists, historians and a Lindblad‐National Geographic certified photo instructor.
Highlights of the Phillie Phanatic’s Galapagos Islands Journey include:
- Fans will have the opportunity to swim and snorkel with sea lions, penguins and sea turtles;explore caves and shoreline and search the waters for dolphins, whales and rays. See bluefooted boobies, marine iguanas and flightless cormorants, and get as close as they can get to the extraordinary.
- Fans will get a chance to be part of a photo session with the Phanatic and participate in several Phillies events on board the ship, all hosted by Tom Burgoyne (the Phillie Phanatic’s Best Friend) and Dave Raymond (the “original” Best Friend of the Phanatic).
- Voyagers will be invited to visit a local school in the Galapagos Islands with the Phanatic, and be a part of a “Be a Phanatic About Reading” assembly.
- Fans can participate in several different explorations on the islands – including hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, or simply relaxing aboard ship.Rates begin at $4,750 per person based on double occupancy.
