We set out early for a pre breakfast birding skiff ride in a marshy area were we could find a different association of birds than our previous outings. Star of the trip were the aptly named American pygmy kingfisher showing patiently for all and the pied lapwings feeding in the muddy shores, certainly a very smart looking shorebird! The rest of the morning was spent on our first visit to an Amazonian community were we had the chance to interact with several women that lead projects with the help and empowerment of Minga Perú. At midday we turned into the Ucayali River, the junction at which the Amazon River officially starts and during the afternoon, we explored Clavero Lake and a narrow and twisted tributary at its end. Magnificent sunset colored clouds put a nice end to another day of exploration.
