We spent a whirlwind four days exploring South Georgia, and today National Geographic Resolution began to make her way towards the Falkland Islands. The wakeup call was pushed to a glorious 9:45 a.m. Everyone took advantage of a much-needed day to sleep in, reflect on past experiences, and grow excited for the next adventure ahead.

The day’s activities included brunch and talks on the eradication of South Georgia’s reindeer, the history of the whaling industry in the Southern Ocean, and the oceanography of the Southern Ocean.

An impressive array of teatime snacks was served at 4:00 p.m. At cocktail hour, staff recapped zooplankton, phytoplankton, kelp, fur seals, and Viking cruising! As tomorrow’s daily plan was laid out, excitement and anticipation were palpable. One more day of sea time until the Falklands!
