We are in the heart of the jungle. This is the region where a lot of rivers converge to form the great Amazon River. We are having a great weather with very little rain in this rain forest! These conditions enable us to fully explore this mysterious region.
Navigation is always smooth and short; as we moor the Delfin II close to the shore, we always have the sounds of the forest, the insects and the birds. This combination of all makes us fell part of a complex ecosystem.
In the morning we explored the forest, as soon as we landed we headed into the dim light under the enormous trees. We discovered the complex relationships of the jungle and the local people, the medicinal plants, the food plants, the commercial types of trees such as the rubber tree! Later on we explored the forest from much closer: it was the canopy walk! This was an amazing experience where we walked along a set of suspended bridges. Here, we discovered how tall some trees could be and also the organisms that inhabit the treetops.
In the afternoon we headed on the skiffs along the Nauta Creek. It was a nice warm afternoon, we explored the shore and the vegetation that endures months partly flooded or entirely submerged under the brown waters of these enormous rivers. The level of the water is high and sightings are diverse and great! We spotted different types of birds, sloths, and monkeys.
It is difficult to imagine what we are going to find while exploring the flooded forest. There are surprises all the time. It was a great day.
