Another full day at sea here on National Geographic Orion, but it was quite an astonishing one with the sun shining vividly from one horizon to the next, set above the bright ocean blue. Many of us were relaxing outside, enjoying the warmth of sunshine over coffee and cocktails, while crew and guests prepared equipment to go diving in the next day or so.

Adding to our leisure in the company of wildlife and great weather, presentations ranging from fish, bird, and plant identification, to iPhone photography made for an enjoyable and very well curated afternoon.

Shortly after midday we were around 140 miles from the Ducie Atoll of the Pitcairn Islands, our next destination! We had seen very few birds today because we were far from land. However, flying fish were seen regularly dashing in all directions away from our advancing bow. Ducie Island, here we come!
