What an amazing first day of our Remarkable Journey expedition! We began the day with grey whale watching tours in Bahia Almejas. The whales were extremely active; spy-hopping, breaching, blowing all around us. Several of our pangas were even visited by friendly whales who came in close enough to touch.
In the afternoon we sailed over to Sand Dollar Beach on Isla Magdalena where we traversed a beautiful dune system from the Magdalena Bay side of the island to the open Pacific Ocean. We explored dune plants, saw many animal tracks (including those of the Magdalena coyotes), and found so many wonderful shells. We returned to the ship for a performance during cocktail hour by the traditional Mexican band, Los Coyotes.
