Today we had a slightly more leisurely start, instead of leaving to explore before breakfast we had first, an early breakfast and then went out to explore by skiff. The morning was beautiful, the light and temperature were just perfect.

Our explorations on skiff, gave us a few new bird sightings, and a better second chance to see closer and photograph under great light animals we had seen before. On open, exposed branches we had a troop of usually elusive brown (tufted) capuchin monkeys and further down, along the river’s edge, several spectacled caimans basking under the rising morning sun.

As the morning progressed, large groups of cormorants, heron and storks started to congregate in search of their breakfast along the exposed beaches. It started to look in some sections of the river, like one of those busy airports, with instead of planes, many consecutive descending birds extending their wing and legs for a landing, one after the other.

After our morning skiff exploration, we returned to the Delfin II for a superb lunch and some rest.

During the repositioning of our ship later in the afternoon, we had the chance to explore some more along the Ucayali River by skiff, and we were very pleased to find that the perfect weather we had enjoyed during the morning, held for our afternoon outing as well.

Many more sightings where added to our trip during the afternoon, and towards the end of the day we had a gorgeous sunset to finish our perfect day in the Upper Amazon of Peru.
