We started very early in the morning on one of the oldest islands of Galapagos with pre breakfast activities, hiking, and exploring Punta Pitt. The highlight of the day was the red-footed boobies everywhere, one of the three species of boobies which we had yet to see. The morning ended with a lovely snorkeling excursion with playful sea lions. In the afternoon, we visited a soft, coralline, white sand beach with turquoise waters. We walked along the coast and went for a swim. We celebrated the end of our expedition among dozens of sea lions. What a fantastic experience!
Today we are visiting Española Island, one of the oldest islands of the archipelago. We started the day kayaking along the cliffside where we found blue-footed boobies and many sea turtles. Later, we went snorkeling at nearby Garner Islet, a place full of life and color. In the afternoon, we hiked on one of the most spectacular trails of the Galapagos at Punta Suarez where we walked through a nesting colony of Nazca boobies and waved albatross. These beautiful creatures are still displaying and courting. We admired the beauty of their dance with the light of the sunset.
Our day in the Galapagos started with an incredible kayaking excursion exploring the shores of Baroness Bay at Floreana Island with great views of the palo santo forest and a visit to the Post Office Barrell. Later in the morning, National Geographic Islander II moved location to Champion Islet where we had the opportunity to snorkel with big schools of fish and playful sea lions who stole the show. To conclude our day, we stopped by Punta Cormorant and had an amazing surprise as we were welcomed by young flamingos on the beach posing for everyone. The sun hid in the horizon bringing to an end an unforgettable day in the Galápagos Islands.
