Today was a relaxing day at sea and about the only things to see over the ocean were two ships and several Storm-Petrels. Still the day was filled with activities. Our oceanographer, Jim Kelley, gave an interesting talk during the morning to explain why certain parts of the ocean are rich and other parts are very poor. The rich parts are very important since 90% of the world catch of fish comes from 10% of the ocean area.

In the afternoon our hotel manager explained how you keep a ship provisioned and also how we can preserve all our fresh vegetables and fruit. Our storekeeper, Salinas Adriano, treats everything with careful hands.

Another important department on board is, of course, our laundry with Danilo, Soy, and Leonardo. Every day you leave a bag outside your door and by late afternoon things are hanging on your door, nice and clean. How would we survive without all these people behind the scenes?

Yes, the Caledonian Star is a small society and everyone who comes onboard will very soon feel the familiar atmosphere. Come aboard and try it!
